I have 2 young children (1 and 4) and the 1 year old is ALWAYS sick and has some health conditions. I LOVE my kids more than life itself! Unfortunately, it has been hard lately to play with them and take care of them when I am not doing so well myself.

I remember what it's like to have a 4 and 1 year old and not have the energy to play them. Even before I was diagnosed with RA, I was sick. In 2000, when I was 5 months pregnant with my second daughter I had a stroke, I was 25. Found out I have a clotting condition called Protein C deficiency. I've been on a lot of blood thinners since which caused my periods to be very heavy and painful. I'd be sick for 3 weeks, have 1 good one, then back into being sick. I was on the couch or in bed or loopy from Vicodin, my kids were really deprived of my presence. In 2004 I had a hysterectomy which changed my life!! Woo hoo! Then 8 months later, I was diagnosed with RA- oh well. I am much better even now then I was when the girls were really young.
They have so much energy and where does ours go?! It's like they suck it out of us!
I hope you have a supportive team (husband, mom, friends) who are able to tag team with you.
I know how frustrated you must feel. I loved it when my kids would just want to cuddle or read a book!

I have young dogs. Does that count? Seriously, my girls are just like children, and I love them dearly. I wouldn't know what to do without them.

Well I have an 8 year old...she's not quite a "young" kid anymore but not quite a tween yet, and this has been the funnest age for me. Just found out we are expecting though so I'll at some point have a tween and a toddler at the same time...wish me luck!
I hope your baby starts feeling better soon and you too. Hang in there!

My son is in second grade, aged 8. I too had the hardship of hospitalization at the age of 1 1/2 years. By then, he developed diarrhea and was in ICU for 2 days. The most painful was at that tender age, doctors would search for his veins to give glucose in his hands and not able to locate, he was injected from his legs. That still dangles in mind and in my eyes and mostly importantly the pain he felt at that time. He is more than my life to me.
My kind of attitude is I never want to a child to wail for whatever reason, except for food for at that tender age. My very very personal prayer to God is please keep all the children hale and hearty.

Yes, i have a son of just 7 years of age. He studies in the 2nd standard in a local school in Madras in India. He loves drawing. I named him as Pradyumna. He loves to eat potato curry and dosas.
