or the stomach flu? I thought it was the stomach flu but it has occured to me that it is the meds now... just wondering what you all think? I took my first Methotrexate on Saturday around 3 or 4 and got fairly nauseous that night and was perfectly fine Sunday. This morning about 3 am I got SUPER SUPER sick! Non stop puking, diarrhea, achey achey achey and ZERo energy (couldn't even get out of bed). I am still sick now

That sounds exactly like what happened to me. Only it was when I started the 6 pills. I felt alittle nauseous with 4 but really didn't start getting really sick til later. It could be partly that and it could also be the flu--everyone in Oklahoma has it. All the hospitals are full so its a tough call. If it is the meds it will be out of your system in a few hours, usually takes about 12 for me. Hope its not the flu, you really don't need that....

did your problems start that long after taking it? I always thought the side effects started within 24 hours? Did yours start after a day and a half?

Like you, my doctor said if I were to have side effects it would start later...That wasn't so. About 3-4 hours after taking the pills I started feeling funny in my head then my stomach started to roll. I had to lay down to keep from throwing up. He had me injecting myself in the leg when he increased dosage because of the sickness, but I couldn't do that for very long. He thought it was all in my head!!! It wasn't though. Now I take it later in the day so that I can lay still at night. I still don't get much rest but aleast my whole day wasn't messed up.

To conteract the sickness caused by Methotrexate, my doctor told me to take 1 gr. of potassium. I am at 4 pills and will take 5 next week. So far so good.

Unfortunately, the meth hasn't seemed to help. Things seem to be getting worse rather than better.

I have been on it almost 3 months now and it is working better than anything so far with absolutely no side effects - my rheumatologist said that is because I take 1g Folic Acid/day... you said potassium... did you mean Folic Acid? If not, you mean want to try FA! I also take mine right before bed too! I am on my way to 8 pills in the next couple of weeks and will try to slowly wean off the steroids...

I've been really fortunate that the MTX hasn't usually affected me, but when it does, the nausea strikes about 48 hours after my dose.

I used to get really sick from the methotrexate, it would cause me the nausea and fatigue. I was taking 6 pills and it would put me in bed all day. Now I give myself the injections in my stomach of the same amount, just liquid form and it's a huge difference. I still have some side effects, but nothing like before. And the injections hurt me less than a mosquito bite. So they really aren't that bad. When I asked my doctor he switched me to the injections right then. I also take the folic acid daily, and they say that's really important for fighting some of the side effects. Best wishes, I hope you feel better soon.

Hi--I also take 8 methotrexate once a week and folic acid daily, but in addition my Dr. has me taking prilosec daily to counter the problems caused by the meth. I was diagnosed with RA in Jan.2004 and this combination along with the plaquinal has kept my RA pretty much under control with minimal flare ups. I know its a lot of drugs to take and I hate that but its better than the morning I woke up in 2004 and could not use my hands--at all.:o

Why Use Natural Treatments?
The natural treatment for RA are generally very well tolerated with minimal side effects and safe for long-term use. Focus on your body's natural processes for reducting pain and inflammation, and future damage.

There are many Natural Ingredients can help to relief pain.

If anyone would like to know please let me know then I will post some of method here.

Since my last post, the MTX started to cause me a lot of nausea. My doctor suggested dividing my dose in half and take it twice a week, rather than all at once. So, I take 4 tabs on Saturday and 4 on Wednesday and that seems to have helped.

I am in the UK and really interested in your comments on Methatrexate. I am on injections at my local hospital on a weekly basis but suffer for 48 hours afterwards.I take folic acid, prednisalone 3 mgs and hydroqiquinine. The drugs get me down and the bouts of fatique, but I remember the time when I couldnt get out of bed at least the drugs have cured that! Take care everyone, I am new to this site. Bye.

My Rheumatologist just lowered my metho from 5 to 4 pills for 6 weeks to see if my side effects are alleviated. It's frustrating because it isn't controlling my RA yet, just making me feel like I have the flu all the time. I take FA 1600 mg a day, too. I ran out and missed over a weekend and I was sick as a dog until I started taking FA again, so believe me taking that extra folic acid makes a difference in dealing with the side effects of the chemo drug.

The only side effect from mtx for me has been Acne Boils, which hurt and leave large holes when they pop. I am taking 8 pills a week, 4 and 4
