No one is immune from this disease. Women between the ages of 20 and 55 years old and even children as young as 11 fall victim to RA. I've a friend who has this disease and she's just 20 years old.

Yeah. For all I know the solution for it is nothing but exercise and eating healthy foods and avoiding foods that could trigger it.

Correct, and men are not immune to RA either. In fact my 11 year old nephew was diagnosed last year with a psoriatic arthritis, and my brother was diagnosed with RA in his 20's, ten years ago.

Although it may be more common in women, men get RA as well. My brother was diagnosed with RA in his 20's as well; autoimmune diseases tend to run in our family unfortunately.

I think this whole immunity thing is true of all diseases. I mean, any one can have anything. If your immune system fails, you become susceptible to illness, even for those you've had shots for. That's why it's important to eat right and live a healthy lifestyle. The way I see it, it's a matter of fortifying yourself - like they built strong fortresses in ancient time :)

I've heard of cases of younger people getting it too, but I'd say that most of the cases I've heard about have involved people in mid-life and beyond.
I'm not sure what can be done to avoid it, other than trying to maintain a good level of overall health.
I know that glucosamine as a treatment has been discussed in other threads.

Eating healthy, exercising, getting enough rest, etc. are always a Good Lifestyle but it won't stop RA from happening. It is an autoimmune disease so it will strike whenever. Genetics are a main cause but as we know, Scientists say that it can be triggered by viral, environmental and other unknown toxins. We didn't have a snowball's chance in hell.

Rheumatoid arthritis is more common among women especially who are in the middle age of 40 to 50 but people of all age and gender can be affected by it. People must carefully look for the symptoms such as anemia and other prominent RA symptoms.

I strongly believe that female in particular and as you said children next are getting affected because of RA. The root cause for RA is because of autoimmune disease and it principally attacks the joints. I read that female gets affected by this disease because of hormonal factor.
