Anyone have any tips on dealing with hip pain? This fall i have noticed my hips are bothering me much more then in the past. I try to keep walking but it is painful in some positions. Meds make it bareable but hardly comfortable. Any range of motion tips that I can do to keep the joint going?

The mountain pose exercise in yoga has always helped me with hip pain. It is very very low impact and helps to balance your system and reduce pain. Google in "sitting mountain pose yoga". There is also a standing mountain pose, but for arthritis and hip pain you will want to do the sitting mountain pose...Good Luck!

Yoga has helped me, too but I have to stabilize the joint as soon as I feel the pain getting bad. I might have to give up a few hours of my day, but it is better than being useless for several days otherwise.

I'm not able to do yoga or much like it for other reasons, but I've heard it can help to a point. I think everyone is different and some can probably benefit a lot from it while others have to look in another direction.

In my case, as I mentioned in another post, I had positive results with hip discomfort after adding a dietary supplement of glucosamine to my meds.

My initial problem wasn't sever pain, but I did have a noticeable limp on some days. My doctor also suggested losing some excess weight would probably have a positive affect on my situation.

I think complete rest is only relief you can get from hip pain. Of course, medication is a must. I do believe you should start doing yoga after consulting thoroughly with a yoga master. Because I heard yoga is a wonderful form of relieving pains throughout the body.
