So what do you think of Today's trend of movies comparing it to the 80's or 90's perhaps?

I'm a fan of the classics. Very few of today's movies even draw my attention. They are too bloody, too gory, use too much profanity, are too violent, aren't funny, and just plain bore me. The exceptions are few and far between.

Hi all, I love films but yes I do agree that there is far too much violence on the big screen now. I find watching a movie just another way that we can escape from our own lives for a time, we can get caught in the plot of a good thriller or simply switch off and allow it to wash over us if it's a simlistic rom-com. It is better than worrying about....sh..RA.

No comparison between 80's and 90's movies with today's movies. They are classic and good at humor. But today, I think with the advent of CG, everything become film is getting portrayed with violence, in today's already violent atmosphere. I started watching cartoons movies which are really giving a great time. I recently watched the shrek, the Lion King. so nice.

I think movies in the 70's and 80's had more drama, there are a few now and then but they are FEW. There is to much violence in many films in my opinion. I would love to see another masterpiece like Lord of The Rings, as far as modern motion pictures that was one of the best :)

yesterday, I watched the movie 'The African Queen' made in 1951 Starring: Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Robert Morley and directed by John Huston. It was such a nice movie shoot in exotic locales and the theme was adventure interlaced with comedy. very good time pass movie.

I agree. Most(not all) movies today are garbage....and the Kids are watching them somewhere else, if not at home.

Check the internet. Google "old movies retail", or just "old movies new york" and I'll bet you get a huge number of hits, especially in NY or SF or LA. I'm not a movie collecter. You might also ask the people at the desk in the Museum of Modern Art where they make their own old movie tickets available; the people who work at that desk could most likely steer you to good shops. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I will check and inform you about the collection. For my own sake, I feel CG was not so rampant on tjhose days.

The trend is moving towards the low. Music of course is the only bright part of the movies that are made at the present time. The storyline and the direction are pretty ordinary. But of course some of the directors are giving everything to show their best technology.
