There are advantages to both, but with our country in such an economical bind and public schools continuing to be shortchanged, I'd have to go with private. Better yet, though -- home schooling.

Yes, I like the third option, homeschooling. Unfortunately I am divorced and my ex is absolutely opposed to it, so my kids have to go to a public school. Thankfully, ours is one of the best in our county. But I went to a private school and those were the best years of my younger life.

I have to go with private schools rather than public schools because of educational system in both type of schools.Economical and political conditions of a country also affects its education.

Given the chance, definitely without doubt private school. I am not blaming public schools for their lack of facilities, but the kind preference at later stage our child is getting at private school and the ambience.

I prefer my kids to go into private schools because of the environment that it gives. Though it's not the fault of public schools I prefer the teachings the private schools give.

Having sent my son to both, and with my husband's having been a teacher for many years at a state college, we agree that children coming out of private schools almost always have more self-confidence, but are not necessarily better students. In other words, the education is usually there in the public schools, but because of class size and teacher overload, there isn't as much personal guidance. Also, there is a huge range in public school quality (following in general the income level of the school system...), so if the local public schools have a good reputation, I'd vote for them because the kids are inevitably exposed to a healthier range of lifestyles and cultures. Thanks for asking, a good question! Kageyd

I fully agree with your view and hope for that to happen as soon as possible.

Being my son already in the second grade, i have not applied for any financial aid through FAFSA. Do anyone applied and got it?

I studied in a public school only several years ago. But i am not sure about the conditions prevailing over there though I am a teacher in a college. Yet i would prefer to join my son in a private shcool.

Though the education in a private school has become very costly, yet it does not mean that the child getting educated in a public school is not nurtured well in terms of knowledge. Many leaders of the world have graduated from public schools. But the order of the day is that the best education is given in the private schools for the reasons best known to them!
