I'm just curious how the magazine business is going these days. I keep hearing about newspapers being in big trouble, but I really haven't heard much about magazines. So, I was wondering, are you subscribing to magazines right now? Is it more or less than before? Are you going to renew when your subscription(s) are up?

I'm not subscribing to magazines any more because I think that it's much better to receive the information from the Internet. I think that the Internet is the main reason of the deterioration of magazine's business today. But it's the question of the personal inclination of course.

When I was a child, my Mum introduced as to readers digest. I started subscribing my own copy after I recieved my first salary at work. I opted to recieve their magazine for 12 months and I think I'll continue to subscribe. I love their magazines.

See, the whole economy is in doldrums. Print media is also experiencing its downturn along with. But, the worry for print media is they are not able get as much advertisement like before. rates are negotiated like never before. A normal slump which will revive. I am subscriber to business periodicals and no question of stopping them.

I guess with the economic stress that we are having, print media is one of them. I too isn't subscribe to any magazines and I can just get information through the internet.

I subscribe to a couple, and one of my favorites went out of business. What's fascinating, though, is that when you walk into a major newsstand the racks are just full of all kinds of specialized magazines - sports (one for every sport imaginable), clothing (one for every kind of clothing you can think of), travel, cars, boats, etc. I'm always stunned at how many different magazines there are.

I had just last week renewed my subscription for my business periodicals and photography, as I am fond of photography. My wife started asking for medical periodicals and it seems, apart from online, we are not able to locate any general medical periodicals. Whether, it may be because it is available for only professional or otherwise.

Try the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and the New England Journal of Medicine. My husband tells me that they used to be free online, but not in the printed version - but even there they were not expensive. They are professional journals, but written so that many of us can read them, especially their summary articles. We get most of our info now online.

There are quite a number of magazines that have touched the 1 lakh mark as far as the subscriptions are concerned and counting. I have a feeling that spiritual and religious magazines do have a reader following than other type of magazines.
