My impression is the same as what faith said. I think it's much more common as we age.

In my experience, I started having symptoms in my mid-forties. Fortunately, my case is mild at this point.

RA can happen at any age, my son was diagnosed with JRA at age 2- although I am not sure there seems to be some research that suggests there is something genetic that can make one more susptable. My son manages well with only some fine motor impairment, he is now 17.

From my own personal experience, RA can start in your early twenties or teens, maybe even earlier. And then, there is juvenile arthritis which is similar. You should be on the lookout for RA commercials with young mothers in them.

I was 62 when I got diagnosed. If it had to happen, I'm glad it happened now.

Yes, mostly women above 40 and male above 50 or more, but very less in number when compared with women above 40, does get Rheumatoid Arthritis because of aging factor alone. Because of some form of poor diet all through the early ages and also due to improper exercise regime or lifestyle, it is found that women are much prone to get RA.

I've read that there are a lot of different factors when it comes to arthritis. Many times it is only diagnosed when people get older and start to feel the pain more, but the disease could have been dormant for years. I think because of that it seems that older people are more prone to arthritis, but I also know several teens that have been diagnosed as well. Heredity, obesity, and environment also play a factor.

First diagnosed this year, at 69. I just posted my Introduction, so you can't find me yet. Many decades of osteoarthritis, and it was an excellent rheumatologist here in NYC who looked at my fingers, ordered X-rays, and has given me a diagnosis of early RA - and we're going to try to keep it moving just slowly. So just in replies to you, the age range seems to be 2 to 60's. Best to you. Kageyd

I had read not long ago a very harmful news that RA had became younger according to the recent investigations of our scientists. I think it is the consequence of the worsening of the ecological situation on the planet.

There is no age bracket for RA I have seen some that they were diagnosed at age 18 and above I guess it's because it's also hereditary.

Rheumatoid Arthritis can occur at any age. Please refer to the various urls provided in the various discussions in this forum, especially those discussing the age factor. Even children under 12 are diognosed with RA.
