I was raised old school and was always told, especially in the winter that if I did not wear socks I would regret it when I was older and had arthritis. I notice many young girls these days wear flip flops and like slippers in the winter months- was grandma telling me an old wives tale or are these young gals headed for trouble?

Hmmm... I never heard of that. But I usually wear flip flops, my physical therapist said that I should limit wearing them b/c i am flat footed, and that could cause knee problems. BUt yeah, anyone want to answer, I'm curious.

I'm not absolutely sure that these young girls are heading for trouble. I was asking several times my doctor about the cause of the Rheumatoid Arthrities and he told me that the main cause is the natural inclination to this disease.

My sister is suffering from RA for the past 4 years and she is very sensitive in what type of shoes or as you mentioned, types of flip flop to wear during winters. I do not think this has got anything with RA. As for as the medical field is concerned and as per my doctors advise, RA gets develop in a person, particularly in women because of some hormonal change and it is to be established what causes RA in human.
