Lately for me, both areas in my knees have been flaring like crazy. What really sucks is that I love taking four flights of stairs each day when I go to classes in the evening, but when I flare, I have to stop. Just wondering which specific joints give everyone the most problems? It is not always my knees. Actually my fingers are usually the first and the worst to start flaring, but right now I am just irked at my knees..argh....

My wife is indeed showing symptoms of RA and she is complaining of shoulder pain. At times she used to say that it pains in the foot. After massage, she get some relief. I don't whether this is also related to RA.

At the beginning, my inner and outer hips and fingers were the worst. My knees, finger joints and shoulders are now the worst. I got Cortisone shots in my knees so they have kicked the bad flare out of my body for a while.

For me its the shoulder arm and the hand joints. I can't do much of physical work because of the inflammation. However I am thankful that I didn't have deformities because of negligence of RA.

I have told only about my wife who is complaining of pain in the shoulder in the very recent past. Whereas my sister is very intermittently, i.e. every now and then getting pain in her shoulder and taking treatment for that. So, I think female first get pain in their shoulder the most.

Mine is in my spine, hips, ankles and right shoulder. I find myself rubbing my hands alot but think its more about stress then inflammation.

For me it's my back. I've had an MRI done and all they find is the arthritis, so I know that's what causes the pain. It's so bad that some days I can't walk because of my back. Of course, I get all of the other joints from time to time, but by far, my back is the worst.

Thankfully I don't have pain in my knees but I have a real problem with my hand joints. Occasionally my foot joints also hurt too.

For me the worst thing that I can see with my wife when she flares is her knees and and ankles and she barely can walk and I feel bad about it.

Nowadays, my wife is complaining of regular pain in her foot and been started to visit doctor regularly for this. Apart from medicine, she feels relieved if massaged on the foot. I think this may be because of some vitamin or protein deficiency. I have to ask with my doctor next time.

There are pictures across the web showing the parts of the body badly affected by RA. Fingers, knees and the whole of the hand are some of the parts that are shown with an unimaginable degree of inflammation. But do all the cases culminate as such?

Interesting mix of answers, all over the body map.
I wonder how many people here also have osteoarthritis, as I have suffered from for 40+ years. It is impossible for me to tell which of the arthritis disease, RA or OA, is today's cause of pain (knees, hip, fingers and wrist, for me).

When my mother suffered from RA i understood that the joints of the walking food pains the most. She used to have tremendous pain in the walking foot, the right one. It would be heavy pain in the mornings. It subsided in the afternoons and again up in the nights.
