When does a doctor tell you that your knees or hips need to be replaced? Also, has anyone ever heard of an elbow replacement? I would be interested in that!

I have had an artificial hip for 8 years now, and it has been a real blessing; the recovery time is complete within a matter of a couple months for most people, you can drive (for hips anyway) within about two weeks, and after a year you don't even know you have it - and have to make yourself remember the cautions about bending too much, etc. Knees take longer initially, but I have two close friends with two replacement knees, and they could not be more satisfied. My doctors told me, "Your pain will tell you when it's time," and in fact that was what happened. When the pain becomes unbearable, when you just can't walk, that's the decision point. I will probably need the other hip done soon. All my best to you. Kagedy

I wish you don't need the second one to get done and let's hope you don't get a severe pain, too.

Thank you. When I can't climb those subway stairs any longer, that will be my signal!

May Thanksgiving Day be a joy to you and those whose health you are trying your very best to promote. Kageyd
