My wife and my sister, are both suffering from mild RA. my sister is visiting just with one particular doctor for all the past four years and my wife too who for the past eight months. Is others also visit just one doctor or too many, given their conditions?

I think if we change our doctor we may not be able to monitor our progress and may get side effect by prescription of different medicines. I may be wrong in my assumption. For this reason, I just want someone to come with comments.

I don't have 1 Doctor or 2 many. I have just enough. Family Drs./General Practioners normally only have the basic training of complicated dieseases. If they suspect that their Patient has a complicated disease then they will refer their Patient to a Specialist.
I have a Family Dr. for general health issuses, a Rheumatologist for my RA, an Endocrinologist for my Diabetes, a Dentist and an Ophthalmologist(Eye disease Specialist) for my eyes since Diabetics can go blind if their sugar level is not in decent control. My FD will also refer me to other Specialists for testing, if he think I may have other health issues that he doesn't cover. There are many different Specialists that deal with diseases and other health issues.
As mentioned medications do cause side-effects. Some minor, some Very bothersome or even(although rare)life-threatening. Depends on how the Person reacts to different medications or if they are allergic to the medications.
As far as drugs interacting and causing side-effects, a Patient must always mention to their Drs. what drugs they are on. In fact, the Dr. or Nurse will ask if their Patient has had any changes in their medications.
Also when we get our medications at the Phamacy, the Pharmacist gives a detailed form about the drugs that we have been prescribed including side-effects, drug interactions, etc. I hope this answers your questions.

My response is very similar to Terrie's, a general practitioner who keeps all my major records, and who refers me to specialists as needed. And since I live part of the year in two different places, I make sure my GP in my home city (NY) gets any records that I accumulate while I am seeing a doctor away from the home city. My GP is excellent, and he is always saying that he simply canNOT keep up with advances in all the special fields, so he learns what he can so he can guide me, and then refers me to people he regards as experts in a specialty; he doesn't pretend to know everything, and I really appreciate that.

You should not envy me. This is first major complication I am facing at my home in the face of RA by my wife. Otherwise, there was this casual ailment a person gets affected and getting relieved from it by non-prescribed medication, is all that I experienced. Thank you, for your comments.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the prescriptions what the doctors give. It is all about the reguarity with which we consume the pills coupled with the diet schedule. Dieting is such an important issue that has to be discussed.
