Thanks for replying. I have begun to take herbal iron supplements from Nature Source. i have read that all these natural supplements don't have side-effects and they are very effective in treating iron deficiency.

The url provided by kageyd is highly informative. It says at one place that the intake of iron pills 1 to 3 times a day should be supplemented by an intake of vitamin c (ascorbic acid) tablets as well as vitamin c helps the body absorb more iron.

A week or so ago I pointed out in a reply to Naturelover that there are some ingredients, in some herbal compounds, that are quite toxic. So make sure you read up well on which "natural" compounds can be harmful.

is the URL for FamilyDoctor.org, and it gives a good overview of how to use herbals with the proper cautions. Quite a few interfere with other medications, so it's something many of us need to watch. Not all herbals are good herbals!

I don't know if this link could help but this site discusses the causes, and what to do with this illness.
