Hi I'm Pete from the UK but now live in Thailand. I am ignorant about RA but I have a lot of bone joint problems which Doctors in England tell me is gout.

You should be able to find an excellent rheumatologist in Thailand, especially in Bangkok. That's who you need to make a diagnosis. Let's hope it's gout - painful as it is (had some go-rounds with it) it's not the demon RA. kageyd

Gout is caused because of raise of uric acid which circulates in the blood, which causes the urate crystals to settle in the tissue of the joints. It's been determined that gout causes acute and severe pain and swelling in the joints and would last for more 5 - 10 days, and keep recurring.

I read it affects the spine because of which one can get severe back pain too. I read that people suffering from this type of ailment should take more fluids than they usually drink and take rest apart from the pain medications being prescribed by their doctors.

Do consult regularly and wishes for a speedy recovery.
