Do any of you take Glucosamine/Chondroitin along with your prescribed medications? My friend is seriously thinking of adding it as a supplement. Actually, He ordered it on-line (Supple drink) and now his getting cold feet. (He's feeling well and don't want to upset the applecart.) Yet, if it would help (even just a little) to rebuild cartilidge, it would be worthwhile. He will probably ask his doctor before starting it. He's currently on Orencia and 2 mg Prednisone. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've used it for many years for my osteoarthritis as a OTC concoction for "hope." There is a huge literature about it, almost all anecdotal, and the scientific studies are very vague about whether or not it helps the joints. It certainly has no dramatic effects in most people. But no one seems to find it a problem, so I decided long ago just to take it - why not? Hasn't done my joints any harm that I can tell of, nor does it help the osteo pain, but who knows, maybe I'd be worse off if I weren't using it. Kageyd

I was recently diagnosed and have started taking the supplement with the MSM. I really feel that it has helped me.

I think taking pain relievers is just blocking the pain carrying signals from reaching the brain. It may me useful in short term, but its just half treatment. The real treatment must consist of removing the toxins from the body, especially blood and lymph. Basically RA and many other immune related problems arise due to the toxic insult of the body. There are lot many natural remedies that helps get rid of them and it has been proven. You can google for it and see some good practitioner.
