Prasanth, I'm sorry, I just don't remember your initial post. Are you here because you have been diagnosed with RA, or are you here on behalf of a friend or family member? Thanks for the reminder, and do let us know the "state" of RA, medications, etc., either for yourself or for the person you are representing. Kageyd

I am here as I mentioned in one of my initial posts to share my experience of witnessing the trouble underwent by my mother who suffered from Rheumatoid arthritis. She is of course no more. She was later diagnosed with osteoporosis as well. I tried to post my discussions with the doctor who treated her.

Thanks Prasanth. You obviously try to keep up with RA, I just couldn't remember if you were the sufferer, or someone else. Sorry about your mother - as a long time sufferer of osteoarthritis, and now RA, I have great sympathy for "bone issues" of any kind. Fortunately my physicians tell me that, at 69, my bone density is just great; now if only that were true for the cartilage (damaged by osteo) and the synovial tissue in the joints (now being attacked by RA)!!

For the bone density to be good at that age is certainly a blessing in disguise I believe. My mother had sugar and high blood pressure and the doctor who attended on her said they would certainly add nothing positive. They are infact detrimental.

Great news to hear from a senior member of your age and do maintain your good health. By the way, do you have any idea of having such a good bone density and any diet related with that.

About the only specific is a daily calcium supplement that I have been doing for years (I don't like milk, don't eat much ice cream because it makes me gain weight, and otherwise don't eat much dairy, so I need calcium from other sources). Beyond that I eat the balanced diet I posted about a day or so ago, kind of a combination of the Pritikin, the Mediterranean, and the anti-inflammation diet ---- they're all almost identical. Also regular exercise is important for keeping bones strong, so I walk, walk, walk. And probably the right genes - whatever they are!!!

As our life's compliment (just referring to RA) has got no permanent solution, we have take care of our own health by maintaining a healthy diet with more calcium concentration, brisk activities like exercise - by those who can do, and of course, the prescribed medicine. My mom is going through RA and it really pushing me to maintain a healthy diet by avoiding junk/fast foods.

That is good adhityaen. It is always nice to maintain diet. The best way as you said is to avoid junk food. Junk food has become the biggest sensation and the temptation of the modern world and eating it has become the order of the day.
