Hi! My name is Penny. I am married and have three grown daughters and two grandchildren. I was just diagnosed yesterday with RA. I really don't know much of anything about it except that it hurts a lot sometimes. I have not seen a rheumatologist yet and so I have no idea what treatment they will do or what medications I will be on. Right now I am on Prednisone (2-20 mg tablets a day) and I am supposed to phase them out slowly. And then I will just be on Diclofenac until I can see the rheumatologist on May 28th. I am a little bit concerned about going off the Prednisone because every time I do my right leg swells up and gets so painful that I can not walk on it and I end up in the ER. I need to be able to walk as much as possible at least for now because I am a child care provider. I am hoping that I will still be able to work with the children at least for a while yet, but it sure gets hard some days. I also have osteo arthritis in my knees that is bone on bone. Well, anyway, I am looking forward to talking to you all and learning new things about RA.
