Anyone heard anything about dairy products linked to Rheumatoid Arthritis? I'm wondering if I should stop using dairy.

Jon,
I have been going to a homeopathic doctor for a while now and she has taken me completely off all dairy products. I can have yogurt and cottage cheese. I use the yogurt butter. It takes a little while but you notice a change in the way you feel. I have tried using the soy milk or rice milk but that takes a bit of getting use to, at least it did for me. loneil

I've heard lots of people getting off dairy products. What types of yogurt are you using? Cottage cheese, thats still dairy isn't it.? Have you tried the Hemp Milk or Almond Milk? They take some getting use to but I thinks it worth trying to get complete off dairy.

I just use the plain yogurt and add fresh fruit to help add flavor. I haven't tried Hemp Milk or Almond in fact I have never even seen it at the grocery stores. Do you have to go to a Natural Food store to get it?

I get it at Whole Food or Sprouts, they have the Almond milk at safe way.

I do see it in the cooler section but most of the time I see it on the shelf not in the cool section where all the other milk is. If you like almonds you might like it. Depending where you at, you will just have to ask the people at the store if they sell almond or help breeze milk. If not you could always order it online. :)

I visited that site when I found out my son was allergic to milk - very opinionated. I hope going off milk helps! I had never heard of that before!

Yeah it is very opinionated. I can't drink milk either, I've been using that Almond Breeze milk. I like it a lot.

My son always drank rice milk vanilla or light soy milk vanilla (not as thick)... can't give almond milk to kiddos with allergies under 3. My son Cody now drinks regular Cow's milk but my daughter cannot have milk or soy so she drink mostly elemental formula but some rice dream rice milk. I have never tried almond milk though.

I recently came across the link between gluten & RA, though not clinically proved yet, so I decided to give it a shot. I am with RA since 8 years now, taking only homeopathy medication, doing yoga and pranayam (breathing exercises). I also had 2 pregnancies in between during which RA was in remission, now has started to show up again since last 3-4 months.
I have been on wheat-free diet for little over a week now, and i found significant reduction in morning-stiffness, swellings. I am going to try this diet for atleast 3 months to see what happens.

I went 40 days without dairy and without wheat. I was desperate because of the pain so I thought why not. When I got to day three I was 100 percent pain free and continued to be pain free for the next 37 days. Then I got so bored with my diet that I added back dairy and within a week the pain came back. I have tried this off and on since August of 2005. It is hard to go completely without any dairy or any wheat, but if you would like to see what it feels like to be free from pain you should just try it. I guess this might not work for everyone, but it sure did for me.

I think cow's milk does contribute to inflammation of all sorts. I recently took my daughter off of cows milk to see if it would help her sinuses. After two weeks, she is like a new kid.

I'm not a big dairy user as a rule, but I definitely do intake butter. I'm not a milk drinker though I occasionally get chocolate milk. I just don't like those soy alternatives at all.

This is an interesting thread - I've not heard RA linked to dairy products before. I've definitely heard about dairy products causing phlegm when people have colds.

And I know a couple of people who have issues with gluten, but they have problems finding food substitutes that satisfies their cravings.

Yes, I think dairy products are a cause for inflammatory disease and if we continue without knowing it, we are only going to suffer. Don't hesitate to consult your doctor and I think all sorts of milk products should be avoided and may take once or twice not to lose their taste. But think after RA and its pain to stop taking this.

I too have been limiting dairy intake and using almond milk. I like the way it tastes. And have noticed decline in morning stiffness.:)

This is interesting, how do you keep your vitamin D levels up if you remove most of the diary? It is the vitamin D that helps the nerve receptor work right so I can see where removing it could help but what about your bones? My Vit D is so low and even with taking it as supplements it isn't helping. I could imagine if I stopped diary what would happen. Did the homopathic dr say how to suppliment? i would like to try this

My wife and sister who are having mild RA are undergoing normal medicine and are thinking to go for herbal medicines. But finding the right one is becoming hard. I will try to get one and inform. Meanwhile, anyone can come with a good details on this.

I'm absolutely sure that there are no food products which consuming leads to the RA. But there are a lot of food concentrates and food additives with such qualities. That is why we must consume as much as it's possible the natural foods

I have some idea regarding dairy products, such as it’s produced from cow’s milk. A high energy yielding food product, mostly from cows, and commonly found in Indian cuisine, Europe, middle east, or also know as East Asian cuisine according to my trusted resource. They may also cause allergies such as milk allergies and lactose intolerance, and in some information about it is that some vegetarians are not eating products with dairy due to dietary, environmental, political, and religious concerns. Hope it relates with the topic given in this site. Always smile!

i am 22 and began experiencing RA symptoms about a year ago. i've recently heard that cutting out dairy can help. how long did it take for your symptoms to decrease? how much of your pain was relieved? just wondering if this would be a good option for me.

Actually the dairy products are so much contaminated now a days that it has become a serious health hazard.

For instance - The cows today are fed so much anti biotics. The milk that we get from those cows become contaminated by those chemicals. Again while processing them.... more contamination.

Try to eat natural seasonal things and health will be good.
